0:00 Hello and welcome back to your 15 day challenge. My name's Michael Montgomery, and today what we're talking about is your 30 minute social.
0:08 Now, this is one of my favorite strategies, not only just for social media, but generally speaking, and this is why the 30 minute social is a time constraint.
0:18 So you have a start and you have an end. Now, this is extremely important when it comes to social media because we've all probably been victim to sitting there and scrolling and just scrolling or thinking about what am I gonna post?
0:30 And you're thinking, and you're thinking, but you don't actually end up posting anything cuz all you're doing is you're thinking about what you should post and if it's good enough, and then perfectionism gets in the way.
0:39 So what the 30 minute social does for us is it gives us a time constraint. And you can do this in anything in real estate.
0:46 I do this when it comes to prospecting. I give myself two hours once a week where I'm doing specific follow-ups.
0:51 I give myself two hours once a week when I'm focusing on geo-farming. So you can give yourself these time constraints.
0:56 They're extremely beneficial, but it works very, very well when it comes to social media. So let's discuss what this is all about.
1:03 So you may have heard of Parkinson's law before where our work will expand to fit the time that we provide it.
1:09 And this is the concept with 30 minutes social is we have 30 minutes in order to complete our social media activities for that day.
1:16 Now, does that mean that you'll only spend 30 minutes? No. You might be coming back on responding to comments, working in your dms.
1:22 Maybe you'll be posting a little bit more throughout the day, but if you get your 30 minute social done, then you have done your social media work for that day.
1:31 So let's jump into the 30 minute social. So first off, as the name suggests, it's going to take you half an hour.
1:37 The first thing you're going to do, it's going to take you five minutes and it's doing your high fives. So we've already discussed what the high fives are all about, where we're commenting on five posts or sending five dms.
1:47 So this is where we're going to start and we want to give ourselves five minutes to do so. Now we have to hit five, but we also want to give ourselves five minutes.
1:55 After five minutes, if we have not hit our five, we have to move on to the next task. The next task will take us five minutes as well.
2:01 We're going to brainstorm one post and three potential stories. Okay? So that doesn't necessarily mean that we are posting three stories or we're even posting that one post.
2:11 We're just spending time brainstorming. So what am I going to be doing throughout the day? Where am I going to be?
2:16 Can I create a story around this? Am I doing a showing? Is there some sort of tidbit that I want to provide?
2:22 Now what I'm doing when I'm doing this is I have a document open, and within there I am brainstorming. I am just writing down, this is just freeform ideas and I'm brainstorming both posts and potential stories.
2:35 And I want to have at least one post and three potential stories after my five minute brainstorming session. Next I move on to create, and this is a 10 minute task.
2:44 So now I've blocked off 10 minutes to actually create one post or a couple of stories. So you can do your post or you can do a couple of stories.
2:53 And maybe we're pulling these stories in from previous days. It doesn't necessarily matter. All we're doing is we're ensuring That that we are posting at this time.
3:01 Now, the next task to build upon this is we are just spending five minutes ensuring that we're posting it. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time to post.
3:08 It's not just a matter of post. You know, sometimes we're thinking of captions or we're thinking of hashtags. So we want to actually give ourselves a few minutes here to actually post and ensure that it's aligned with our brand.
3:17 But the whole concept here is we're not overthinking it, we're not going back and forth. We are just shipping the post.
3:23 We need to get in the habit of just shipping the posts. So finally we'll have five minutes remaining. And what we're going to do is we're going to look for one to two people that we can potentially follow or connect with.
3:33 And so what we're doing at this point in time is finding target accounts. Now this could be businesses, this could be other people, this could be friends of friends, but we're just looking up to see if we can follow one or two more people and or businesses.
3:45 So now you may be wondering, what do I post? Well, when it comes to posting, we really need to start simplifying.
3:51 We do not want to overcomplicate this. We have to ask ourselves, what do people care about? So people care about just a few things when we're posting.
3:59 Really, it's you, your pets and or kids, your friends and family, your clients, and behind the scenes, those are really the fine things.
4:10 So we're not even bringing up listings and solds. Yes, you can sprinkle those in a couple times, maybe throughout the week, but we don't want your Instagram profile, your Facebook profile, any profile for that matter, to be very, very focused on your listings.
4:22 We need it to be focused on you. This is the personal side, and this is where you're going to get engagement.
4:29 So if you are ever struggling for ideas, you just need to come back to those five things. They will be in the task below as well.
4:36 Just for future reference. So your task today is quite simple. Go through 30 minute social and ensure you have at least one post done.
4:46 So you're gonna go through your 30 minute social and then after this, you will be done social media for the day, however you can go back in.
4:52 That being said, you don't have to because you're done for the day. Thank you very much and we'll see you in the next challenge tomorrow.
