15 Day Challenge
Lesson 8: Events, Interests, Organizations
Tasks
Find 3 events or organizations that you want to attend as a test. You need to go to at least 1 of the events for each organization to test if this is a group you’d like to pair with.
Moving forward, you should attend 1 event per week (minimum).
Reminders:
An event is defined as 4 or more people getting together.
Pro Tip: Focus at least 1 of your ongoing groups on the business community. People in the business space usually provide more referrals, given they know the value of receiving a referral.

0:00 Hello and welcome back to your 15 day challenge. My name's Michael Montgomery, and today what we're talking about are events, interests, and organizations.
0:09 So before we jump into this, let's first understand something about the majority of real estate agents. Most agents are either the digital person, so they're gonna do everything on social media and everything digital, or they're the in-person person and they don't really believe in the social media side and they just wanna do everything in person.
0:25 Now, both of these theoretically can work, but here's the struggle. Social media is amazing when it comes to nurturing. Not very good when it comes to meeting in person is very good when it comes to meeting and more difficult to do when it comes to nurturing.
0:40 Let me explain On social media, it's challenging to actually go through social media to find new people and to meet new people.
0:48 Generally, the people that we're following are people that we've met or acquaintances or businesses that we've been to. So it becomes a really good mechanism for us to nurture people who we're following and who are following us, but in person the that's where the power really comes to actually meet the person.
1:04 So we wanna meet them in person, build that trust, and then ship it over to social media. Now, the reason why we do that is because in person, if we're actually trying to scale the business, it becomes very hard to nurture people in person just because we only have so many hours in the day.
1:20 So this then leads us to this concept of how do we meet new people? Well, events, organizations and interests are absolutely key.
1:28 Now, moving forward, what our task is going to be is going to be going to one event per week. And an event is defined as any organization or group or even group of friends where there are four or more people.
1:40 When there's four more people getting together, that is considered an event and you want to go to at least one of these per week.
1:48 Now, when it comes to this, you may not have these organizations as of yet. So your first thing you're going to do today is you are going to find three different groups, organizations, or hobbies.
1:59 And the only rule is you have to be doing these with people, and they should be people within your market.
2:06 So obviously people, because that's how we're going to meet them. And then your market, because these are people that could potentially buy and sell.
2:12 Other than that, you can be open to any organization out there, hobbies, fitness class, whatever it might be, wherever there are four more people meeting on a semi-regular basis.
2:22 And again, we want to go to one event per week. Now there is amazing hack, and the amazing hack is focusing on the business community.
2:31 So maybe you want to focus on a hobby and an interest of yours, and then you also wanna focus on something else, make that other thing the business community.
2:39 Why is that? Well, the business community is fantastic when it comes to referrals. People in business understand the value of a referral, and almost every city and town out there will have a chamber of commerce or something similar to that, where the business community gets together on a regular basis.
2:56 You need to be joining this. These Are opportunities for you to get so many referrals. I remember back a few years ago when I joined my Chamber of Commerce, this was actually a number of years ago.
3:08 I had about a five minute conversation with this one amazing gal. She was Irish, and she then referred one other person, never bought somebody in the Irish community within my city.
3:18 And then that person referred three or four other people, all of which who bought within about two year span. And the individual who referred them, no, she has never bought her sold, but still continues to refer me.
3:29 That all came from a five minute conversation at a Chamber of commerce meeting. So the business community is fantastic, but ultimately we don't just want one.
3:38 So your task is to find three. And then moving forward throughout the weeks, we want to be going to one event per week where there's four or more people.
3:46 But your task right now is to find three organizations that you can go test. No pressure for you to actually join them, just test them at this point in time.
3:54 Thank you very much, and we'll see you in the next challenge tomorrow.
